Super Decadent Sugar Free Cinnamon Spice Hot Chocolate + Easy Coconut Whipped Cream

This is the only hot chocolate recipe you need. It’s sugar free and dairy free, crazy rich and decadent and full of healthy fats and magnesium too! PLUS the easiest coconut whipped cream recipe ever. Shoutout to my friend Laura from @livesandforks for the inspo!

It might take a LITTLE bit longer to make than your average “mix chocolate and milk and you’re done”, but when you try this delicious cozy wintery drink, you’ll see it’s totally worth it!

I used a bunch of bulletproof goodies in this recipe, because they are amazing quality and perfect for providing a boost of healthy fats too!

I’ve been loving using cacao butter in recipes lately (here and here), because it has a slight chocolaty taste, has tons of healthy fats and no sugar, and has other benefits too!

Other than the cacao butter, cacao powder itself has tons of benefits – the main one being its crazy high level of antioxidants!

The cinnamon and clove help keep this hot chocolate sweet without needing to add extra sugar, and also adds a great note of spice!

For the Hot Chocolate
For the Coconut Whipped Cream
  • 3/4¬†cup¬†coconut milk
  • 1/4-1/2¬†tsp¬†maple syrup or honey¬†(optional if you want extra sweetness, although I don’t think it’s needed!)

instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat up the coconut milk, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Bring the milk to a simmer and let it cook for 25 minutes.
  2. While the milk is simmering, prepare the coconut whipped cream. Simple place the milk (and optional sweetener) into a bowl and mix with a hand mixer until it forms the texture of whipped cream. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Once the 25 minutes are up, add in the cacao butter and allow it to melt. Then add in the water, chocolate powder, and brain octane. Let it all mix in the pot for about 3 more minutes.
  4. Remove the cinnamon sticks and cloves with a slotted spoon before serving, or pour the mixture into a mug over a small sifter. Top the hot chocolate off with the coconut whipped cream and some cinnamon. Enjoy!
