My Favorite Podcasts of 2017

I would say that 2017 has been the year of the podcast, at least for me. At the beginning of the year, I began listening to podcasts and was instantly hooked! I’ve listened to them way more often than music and I love how I can learn so much while I’m working on other stuff at the same time! #multitasking

Back in April, I wrote a post about my favorite health and wellness podcasts, but a lot has changed since then and I’ve found new, even better ones to listen to. I still listen to the ones in that post, but these are my most recent favorites.

Hope you check these out and comment below if there are any others you enjoy because I’m always looking for new ones to listen to!

I Don’t Get It Podcast

If you watch The Bachelor / The Bachelorette, then you will love this podcast. It’s not necessarily about those shows, but the podcast is hosted by Ashley and Lauren Iaconetti (Ashley was on both The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise and her sister Lauren was on BIP with her) and their friend Naz Perez. A lot of the guests are former Bachelor contestants, but the content isn’t all bachelor related, so even if you don’t watch the shows you’ll love it!

Like the title says, the show is all about things we don’t get – from ghosting to airplane travel. And their commentary on it is hilarious! It’s super relatable and I get excited every Monday when I see a new episode come up.

Don’t Blame Me

I think this review says it all –

“Meghan Rienks has some bizarre listeners whose lives may or may not be the plots of early 2000s teen dramas but she gives hilarious advice to all of them. Is the advice always sound? Probably not but can you blame her when the problems she’s given are so out there. (No you can’t!) […] Disclaimer: while this is hilarious in most circumstances and motivated me to be nosy about my friends lives it is difficult to listen to while eating.”

Meghan (@meghanrienks) is a youtuber who I kind of grew up watching, and now she has her own podcast, which I’m clearly obsessed with. Basically people call in with questions (mostly between the ages of 16 – 25) and she gives her advice. The thing is, these peoples’ problems are insane and I’m shocked like 90% of the time (you can ask Michael – I tell him about the stories all the time 😅). Like the review says, it’s legit out of a 2000’s teen drama. She always gives an un biased opinion that’s not judgey at all, so people feel comfortable sharing their problems with her. Highly recommend!

How I Built This

The number of people I’ve told about this podcast who have come back to say they’re now obsessed is amazing. On this show, the host interviews different people who own really big, well-known companies (Starbucks, Airbnb, Bumble – just to name a few) and they talk about how they built their empire. Some of the stories are so crazy and it’s super interesting to see how everything came together. The episodes are also on the shorter side, which I like for when I don’t have as much time to listen to a full hour long episode. The Airbnb episode is by far my favorite!

Actually Adultish

I already listened to this one back when I wrote my original favorite podcasts post, but to be honest I didn’t really listen to it that often so I didn’t include it on my list. But over the past year, it’s gotten better and better and now it’s one of my favorites! I get excited every time I see a new episode is out! The podcast is hosted by Christina Rice, who runs the blog Addicted to Lovely. She brings in a super diverse group of people to interview – from people in the health/wellness world to just friends to talk about relationships and social issues. They debunk instagram lies, discuss stuff like body image and dating, and also go into health topics like being paleo and switching over to clean beauty.

Straight Up Paleo + Unbound Healing Podcast

These two go hand in hand for me, not only because they are both about the paleo / AIP lifestyle, but also because they both come out on Thursdays and therefore have made my Thursdays a little bit better because of it.

Straight Up Paleo is hosted by Christina Rice (same as Actually Adultish) and Kara Halderman (@kara_boutit). As you may have guessed, they talk about all things paleo on the podcast. I love having this resource since I follow the Auto Immune Paleo diet right now and everything is super helpful. They sometimes bring on guests, but mostly it’s listener-driven, meaning they spend the whole episode just answering questions that their listeners send in. I love formats like this because the questions are always relatable and something I would ask myself.

Unbound Healing Podcast is hosted by Anne Marie Garland (@grassfedsalsa) and Michelle Hoover (@unboundwellness). They both follow the AIP protocol, which I love because I can relate to everything they talk about! This podcast has a similar format to Straight Up Paleo as they also answer questions from their listeners. Everything is geared toward healing auto immune diseases through diet and they give tips on how to live on AIP, as well as how to go through re-introductions, etc. If you are following the AIP protocol, I highly recommend!

LadyGang + LadyLovin’

These two also go together for me because I feel like they are very similar in content and format. Both are hosted by three women and they discuss basically everything. It’s more targeted to women since they discuss stuff like sex and relationships, but they also talk about health and wellness and being a #girlboss. They are both HILARIOUS and I highly recommend checking them out!

Lady Lovin’ is hosted by Lo Bosworth (from The Hills and Laguna Beach), Jilly Hendrix and Greta Titelman and it’s a lot more dating/love/relationships, with some lifestyle content sprinkled in. My favorites are the live episodes which are hilarious!

LadyGang is hosted by Becca Tobin (from Glee!), Jac Vanek (from Jac Vanek clothing) and Keltie Knight. They have a different guest on each episode and always manage to make it funny! I’ve been enjoying the more recent episodes since they’ve become more health/wellness related, but I love the show in general!

Make sure to let me know if you listen to these and what you think and if you have any favorites yourself!
